""Mais do mesmo..
Hi WhiteMotumbo,
Thank you for your email regarding the VIP Club changes.
Since I used to be a Supernova myself, I can empathize with how you are feeling regarding the VIP changes that will take place. We are very aware of the significant impact these changes will have on the bottom-line for all Supernova and Supernova Elite players.
However, let me assure you that this is not a decision that was taken lightly, and these changes have been made after months of analysis and investigation to find the best possible model for the long-term viability of the poker ecosystem.
As you mentioned yourself, over the last few years the online poker world has changed dramatically. The games are getting tougher, and the recreational players are indeed losing their money faster as a result of this.
Please note that these factors are all interrelated; as recreational players leave the game, the ratio of regulars to recreational players will increase, and the games become tougher as a result.
With the eye on the long-term viability of the poker economy, PokerStars, as the overwhelming market leader, decided it was time to intervene and make a complete breakdown of all the variables involved in the current situation.
After our analysis, we believe this longevity can be reached by shifting the incentives away from the professionals and towards the recreational players. The 2016 VIP changes are merely a part of the strategy that we as a company have chosen to take.
The reason we are focused on the highest status levels is because these rewards have become so enticing that we have inadvertently altered why some people play and how they play. It is not that these players do not ‘deserve’ these incentives, but rather that reducing them was the most reasonable solution with the eye on the long-term future.
The restrictions on third-party software have been implemented for exactly the same reason as the VIP changes; to ensure the longevity of the game that we all love to play. Our intention is to expand these restrictions through major changes within our own software that we will communicate in more detail through 2016.
PokerStars wants to offer fun, fair and competitive games of poker globally. These changes aim to help us achieve that goal.
My sincerest apologies for the relatively late announcement of the VIP changes. Please note that there was a lot of data which had to be accumulated, analyzed, and discussed by multiple departments before the final decision was announced.
It was always our main priority to keep our players as up-to-date as possible regarding this matter, starting as early as October 2014 on the world’s largest poker forum:
PokerStars 2015 VIP Club Changes - Internet Poker - Online Poker Forum
Hopefully, I have been able to give you a better understanding of why the company has chosen to take these measures, and I would be happy to hear back from you if you have any feedback or further questions.
Best regards,
Koen
