    Question SNG Multitable

Contudo não tenho nada pra me basear...

When considering strategy for a 3 or 5 table sit and go we need to look ahead to the final stages. By the time the bubble is reached the blinds are likely to be very big indeed compared to the stack size. One or two players will usually get an early double up with a premium hand and go on to accumulate a big stack by pressuring opponents throughout the tourney. This adds pressure to also accumulate chips – at the end of the day you did not enter a 2 hour long tournament to scrape into the lowest paying spot, staying ‘viable’ to win the tournament is a key strategy consideration.

To summarize the basic strategy considerations – we need to strike a balance between the need to accumulate chips and survival. If the two aims contradict each other then chip accumulation must become the priority.
Is ICM Appropriate For Multi-Table SNG Play?

Yes, the jumps between the paying places can be used to calculate (or at least estimate) our prize pool equity in dollars and use this to assist with decision making. As the number of paying places increases so do the complexity of the ICM calculations which double for each place added! However a sound understanding of ICM will allow us to closely estimate when a call or push has a positive expectation. Read our Introduction to ICM for SNGs article for more information on this subject.

In a 1-table tournament one of your objectives is to preserve ‘fold equity’ for the middle-stages. The risk of losing this fold equity outweighs some of the potential gain for winning pots early. While this is not the only strategy for 1-table tournaments, most of the ‘pro’ players employ a ‘premium hands only’ strategy in the early stages. Preserving their stacks for the ‘push / fold’ portion of the game where they have a significant (and profitable) skill edge.

With the bubble so far away this strategy is less effective in a multi-table sit n go tournament. You’ll simply find yourself too far behind the chip leaders when the bubble appears to have any fold equity at all. Super-tight early works in the 1-table environment because the bubble is not too far away – in a Multi-Table Sit N Go you must accumulate chips… or be left behind!
