A basic income has long been a liberal pipe dream, but few countries have implemented pilot projects to test how it might work.

Advocacy by Libertarians[edit]
Basic income has been promoted by people associated with political views that are generally opposed to the public provision of welfare services, such as libertarianism, economic liberalism, and anarcho-capitalism. These people support basic income as a strategy to reduce the amount of bureaucratic administration that is prevalent in many contemporary welfare systems, as well as acting as a form of compensation for fiat currency inflation. Notable libertarian-capitalist proponents of basic income include Milton Friedman (in the form of negative income tax),[51]Robert Anton Wilson,[52]Gary Johnson (In the form of the fair tax "prebate") and Charles Murray.[53]

LOLI'm a recent graduate of Duke University majoring in economics and public policy. I write frequently at my own site, called Political Algebra (Political Algebra | A Perspective on Current Political Events and Policy Issues). My main interests are economic policy and political analysis. Outside of journalism, I'm a big sports fan, particularly of Duke Basketball and the Boston Red Sox.
Eis o trecho:According to the Encyclopedia Britannica, "In the United States, liberalism is associated with the welfare-state policies of the New Deal program of the Democratic administration of Pres. Franklin D. Roosevelt, whereas in Europe it is more commonly associated with a commitment to limited government and laissez-faire economic policies."
A basic income has long been a liberal pipe dream, but few countries have implemented pilot projects to test how it might work. In America, Democrats have long hoped for a minimum income, but it would be years before such a measure could be subject of a serious discussion.

Basic income in Brazil - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
LOLBolsa Família is a social welfare program of the Brazilian government. The program attempts to both reduce short-term poverty by direct cash transfers and fight long-term poverty by increasing human capital among the poor through conditional cash transfers. It also works to give free education to children who cannot afford to go to school to show the importance of education.[1] The part of the program that is about direct welfare benefits could perhaps best be described as a basic income with some prerequisites.
